With business travellers increasingly looking to make their travel more comfortable and often work-friendly, airport lounge access is becoming a much more desirable commodity. But for many travellers, the difficulty of attaining a particular airline status or enough frequent flyer points, or the often hefty membership fees make lounge access unattainable.
No1 Lounges is an independent airport lounge operator with the belief that lounges should be an experience available to every traveller no matter their status or how many points they have. All travellers can access their lounges by pre-booking or paying at the door (subject to availability). Eligible passengers of affiliated airlines or to those who are part of a lounge access scheme can also pre-book entry. Entry starts from as little as $60 for adults and $30 for children – but see our exclusive discount offer below!
Launched in London in 2006, No1 Lounges have since spread to Gatwick, Heathrow, Birmingham and Edinburgh, and have recently opened 3 lounges in Australia. In Melbourne and Sydney the lounges operate under the brand ‘The House’ which offers an elegant and opulent experience. In Brisbane, ‘MyLounge’ recently opened in the International Terminal and features a more relaxed and social style of lounging with loft-inspired decor. Read on to hear about our visit to MyLounge Brisbane.
MY LOUNGE HOME OF VIRGIN AUSTRALIA
Opened in September 2019, the pay-to-use lounge is located at the northern end of the international terminal between gates 76 and 78, tucked away in a quiet section before the Emirates lounge. Able to house 120 travellers, the lounge spans over 332sqm and is open from 6am-12pm and 3pm-10pm daily with guests able to stay for a maximum of 3 hours.
Food + Drinks
With a strong focus on the traveller experience, the menu is on a two-week rotation with MYO sliders and Asian cuisine on the menu, along with the signature chicken and camembert pies – a must-try! Following the relaxed feel of the lounge, a café-style sit-down area is situated in front of the self-serve food area, bar and barista-made coffee station. Travellers have the option to sit in a communal couch area, a more intimate two-seater area or grab a window table and watch out over the runway.
Seating + Workspaces
With no actual walls within the lounge, the feeling of a New York-inspired loft has been executed excellently. Replicating the feeling of a co-working space, there are a few different ‘styles’ of workspaces available within the lounge. The powered workspaces are located along the inner wall, with the walkway on the other side. Travellers have two different spaces to choose from, bar stools at a high set bench or a cafe-style seating area. Each seat or bar stool has access to a double powerpoint.
Alternatively, if a view is what you’re after, there are more seating options along the length of the window side, just without power.
Now for those who like to wind down pre-flight and save the work for their flight, there is a games corner with a foosball table, a tv with a gaming console, magazines and newspapers. The other facilities offered by the lounge include luxury amenities with shower facilities, toiletries, towels and hairdryers.
Designed a little different to the norm, MyLounge is a funky fun brand which is reflected throughout the lounge. With predominately neutral tones, brightly coloured furniture and accent pieces bring the space to life with pops of colour to make space feel light and fun but still a little bit luxe. The loft-inspired feel is clear to see, with the glass panels creating sections, light timber features throughout and industrial steel like pendant lights.
